Kali
Hey, I’m Kali from the Upstairs block. My name is pretty common here in Nepal, and it literally translates to “Black girl.” But don’t worry, I’m easy to spot, I’ve got these pointy ears, a bit of a pointy mouth, and I almost look like a little fox, but black! I love everyone, and I’m a happy dog who can’t wait to welcome any hooman that comes by.
I used to be a happy community dog in Nakhipot, living in front of a kind shopkeeper’s place. He used to feed me every day, and life was pretty good. But one day, as I was sitting in the streets, a vehicle came speeding by and hit me. The pain was unbearable, and I screamed, but sadly, no one came forward to help me. It was late in the evening, and it looked like it was about to rain.
The kind shopkeeper, who had always taken care of me, saw me lying there and immediately took action. He called the police for further action, but knowing I didn’t have much time, he rushed me to a private hospital. The next day, he went to check the CCTV footage to identify the culprit, but unfortunately, they couldn’t find out who did it. Despite that, he didn’t give up on me. He paid my hospital bills with help from his friends, and I will forever be grateful to him for everything he did for me.
After I was treated, he took me to Sneha’s Care for further care and rehabilitation, and I’ve been here since August 2022. Every day, I still look at the door, hoping to see his face again. But I know, deep down, he’ll come back for me one day, and I hope he’ll be proud of how far I’ve come in my recovery.
